Copyright Policy.

This page reproduces the in-app DuPDF Copyright Policy, including DMCA notice and counter-notification procedures.

1. Respect for intellectual property

We respect the intellectual property rights of others, including copyright, trademark, and patent rights. We expect users of the DuPDF application (“App”) to do the same. You must not use the App to copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, or create derivative works from content that you do not own or have explicit permission to use. Unauthorized use of copyrighted or other protected content may result in termination of your access and legal action by rights holders and by us.

2. Your responsibility for content

You are solely responsible for the documents and content you create, upload, annotate, sign, or otherwise process using the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you have the necessary rights, licenses, or permissions to use and process such content and that your use does not infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property or proprietary right of any third party. You agree to indemnify us (as set out in the User Policy) for any claims arising from your content or your use of the App in violation of third-party rights.

3. No endorsement; no liability for user content

We do not endorse, and are not responsible or liable for, any user content. The App is a tool only; we do not monitor, control, or verify the content you process. We have no obligation to screen content for infringement. Any use of the App to infringe copyright or other rights is a violation of our User Policy and may result in immediate termination of your access and exposure to legal action by rights holders. Under applicable law (e.g., the Digital Millennium Copyright Act in the United States), we may have certain safe harbors when we follow specified procedures; we comply with applicable notice and takedown requirements.

4. Reporting copyright infringement (DMCA and similar laws)

If you believe that content accessible through or in connection with the App infringes your copyright, you must send a written notice to our designated agent. Your notice must include:

  1. identification of the copyrighted work(s) claimed to have been infringed;
  2. identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or the subject of infringing activity, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material (e.g., URL, description, or location in the App);
  3. your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
  4. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  5. a statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner;
  6. your physical or electronic signature.

Send the notice to sknaam@proton.me or dupdf@proton.me with the subject line “DMCA” or “Copyright Infringement.” We will respond to valid notices in accordance with applicable law and may remove or disable access to content that we determine to be infringing. Knowingly materially misrepresenting that material is infringing may expose you to liability.

5. Counter-notification

If you believe that content you provided was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to our designated agent. Your counter-notification must include:

  1. identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location at which it appeared before removal or disabling;
  2. your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
  3. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
  4. consent to the jurisdiction of the courts in the jurisdiction specified in our User Policy (and, if in the United States, the federal district court for your judicial district);
  5. your physical or electronic signature.

Send the counter-notification to sknaam@proton.me or dupdf@proton.me with the subject line “Counter-Notification” or “DMCA Counter-Notification.” We may forward counter-notifications to the original complainant and may restore content in accordance with applicable law. Knowingly materially misrepresenting that material was removed by mistake may expose you to liability.

6. Repeat infringers

We will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts or access of users who are repeat infringers of intellectual property rights. We may also terminate accounts of users who commit a single serious or willful infringement. “Repeat infringer” is determined in accordance with applicable law and our reasonable policy. We reserve the right to take any other action we deem necessary to comply with applicable law or to protect the rights of others.
